768th Bomb Squadron, 462nd Group

My Dad (John O. Payne - from Waco, Texas) was on the island of Tinian in September, 1945 attached to the 768th Bomb Squadron, 462nd Group.  I probably don't have the terminology correct, but he must have been in the ground crew, because he told me his job was to check the aircraft instruments and fill the oxygen tanks.  He mentioned that one of his buddies was a guy named Zucker (first name might be Nathan) from New York.  He was in the AAF Tech Tng Sch at Gulfport, MS prior to going overseas.  If anyone knew him or can provide more information, I would really love to hear from you.
